Father of Maldives. Mr. Ibrahim Nasir Pass away..,
It was with deep shock and profound sorrow that I heard passing away of our beloved ex-president Mr. Ibrahim Nasir, Father of Maldives. That the Ibrahim Nasir prominent role in the movement for Maldives independence from British colonial rule would not be forgotten and the wisdom and foresight with which he had served Maldives had won him the respect and love.
I here extended heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolence to members of the Family.
If H. E. hadn't reclaimed Thinadhoo and finally Addu, what would have happened to its dwellings? Same fate as Palestine after the British left in haste? Same fate as Chagoans of Deigo Garcia? Think about it.
Ibrahim Nasir is a hero. The greatest hero of Maldives since Don Bandarain. Some jealous supporters of Gayoom are trying to revise history and label the Kilegefaan a "tyrant". We shall not allow it.
